Wednesday, September 7th bowling will commence at 6:30, continuing to bowl north-south.
Monday, September 5th is Labour Day and we will hold holiday bowling at 1pm. Following the bowling we will have some treats to eat up!
The city indicates that wet conditions will prevent us from bowling this week, so, Tuxedo will have its opening day June 7th at 1:30
2022 bowling days and times are Tuesdays @ 10 am Jul/Aug, Wednesday evening @ 7, and Thursdays @ 10 am Jul/Aug. We have also added a new draw at 10 on Sunday in July and August. C’mon out and enjoy the fun and friendship.
We now have a volunteer for Wed evening bowls starting Wed, Aug 25 at 7pm. Our bowling times will change starting Mon, Sep 6 – and Tue afternoon bowls will be added. Evening bowling (Mon & Wed) will start at 6:30pm. Daytime bowling (Tue & Thu) will start at 1:30pm.
After some lengthy green repairs, Tuxedo is ready to begin bowling. We are required to follow Covid-19 protocols, and bowlers will have to sign a health form indicating their current health and travel situation. Before starting we require volunteer “game convenors” as in 2020. These volunteers will – open the gate/door, ensure equipment is sanitized, organize games, keep a log of participants and sterilize high touch areas before locking up and leaving the premises. Without enough convenors, unfortunately, bowls times will be limited. Volunteers are urged to Contact Sandra ASAP.
We finally have the word from the city that we may start bowling at Tuxedo beginning Tue, Jun 30th!! Of course, things will be very different because of the COVID-19 virus. Our bowling days and times will be: Mon & Wed at 7 pm, Tue, Thu & Fri at 10 am. This year we have volunteer “Game Convenors” rather than gate openers, and they will guide you through the new bowling experiences. Many thanks go to these individuals for taking on this task: Mon – Joanne Kullman, Tue – Michael & Pauline Gale, Wed – Sandra Mulholland, Thu – Brenda Frank, Fri – Jerome Kirby. There is NO DROP IN BOWLING at this time. Bowlers must pre-register for games to ensure there will be no more than 12 people at any one time (3 greens with 4 bowlers). The procedure for this is to email the scheduler at nxjohn@mymts.net. Pre-registration can be done up to one week in advance, but no later than noon the day before they would like to play, in order to reserve a game. Those without email will phone him. Noel will keep an ongoing list of who has played and when, in case tracing is required.
Bravo, and thank you to those who answered the call for volunteers. Tuxedo’s task was to paint our beloved club house as well as the outbuildings. Alan, George and Noel applied thier skills painting the inside of the clubhouse – and what a great job they did. Same colours but now it’s fresh and clean! Our outbuildings were in need of some fresh colour as well and Alan, Noel, Sandra and Brenda pulled together to get the job done. Thanks a lot. Great job!
Your Tuxedo LBC Executive has considered the upcoming season – whatever and whenever it is – and has decided to encourage all of our members to remain members! We are asking you to pay a membership fee of $10 for whatever season we have. This allows us to remain a club in good standing with Bowls Manitoba and will cover our insurance if we should manage to bowl at some point. Cheques can be sent to our treasurer Noel @ 582 Rosedale Avenue Winnipeg Mb R3L 1M5. There is also an e-transfer option and his email address is nxjohnson@mymts.net (Tuxedo is the answer to the security question if you choose this option) Please arrange for payment NLT end May.
We encourage our Tuxedo family to take every precaution in this time of serious risk and uncertainty. Look out for one another, and err on the side of safety and good health. We look forward to seeing you all, in good health, at the first opportunity.
