Tuxedo LBC is pleased to announce that regular bowling will begin tomorrow, May 9th, at 1 pm. Best wishes to Tuxedo members, and guests, for a great summer of bowls!
Monday May 15th has been chosen as our club clean up day. All members are welcome/encouraged to join us in this Tuxedo spring ritual. There will be odd jobs to do both inside and outside and we would appreciate it if you could bring along some of your own equipment – items such as push brooms, gloves, rakes, trowels, buckets, rags, secateurs (you get bonus points if you know what that is) etc. The fun begins at 1:00 pm. A list of tasks will be posted on our white board – volunteers are welcome to choose the jobs they wish to do. Any amount time you can give to this worthy cause is appreciated. Stay as long or as little as you like – no stress. See you at the club!!
Tuxedo LBC will conduct it’s spring meeting on May 6th commencing at 1:30. Our membership is our strength: get involved, share your ideas, make a difference.
Norwood and 1212 Dakota are hosting the 2017 Canadian Singles Championships from Monday Sep 4 through to Saturday Sep 9th, 2017. We are looking for your support in volunteering for this event. Putting on a successful event to showcase our hospitality, needs great people like you! There are a variety of opportunities. Some come with training that is mandatory, others just your willingness to help out. Here are some to think about: green and grounds prep (before and during competition), marketing, opening ceremonies set-up and clean-up, closing ceremonies set-up and clean-up, mounting of signage and banners, general welcome and information, water provision, transportation, sound system, kitchen help, bartending, scorekeepers, as well as on green markers during the competition. Please contact me – Brenda Frank to put your name on the list. All volunteers will be contacted as the needs arise. If you can’t help out – please come out and watch some great bowling.

The winter was kind to our green. It has nearly no winter damage at all.

Bowls Manitoba and it’s volunteer members and clubs are pleased to be hosting two competitive leagues again this summer. As in the recent past that includes a triples league and a singles league. When it comes to fun-competitive bowls it doesn’t get any better than the triples league. Bowlers of all skill levels find it fun, social, and even exciting. The singles game is a bit more of a solitary exercise however. If you are looking for a head-to-head challenge and you want to improve your skills, this is the game for you. The singles league takes place on the artificial green at 1212 Dakota and games are played Tuesday evenings for about 12-14 weeks beginning in May. The triples league is in action Thursday evenings for about 14 weeks covering the same period as the singles league. This league hosts games at various clubs in the city including Tuxedo LBC with the majority of the games being played on the carpet. All bowlers, of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Join up and see for yourself how enjoyable league play can be. For more info, or to join the triples league contact Elaine @ firstname.lastname@example.org For info regarding the singles league please contact Betty or Bob V.
N.B. returning league members have until April 1 to join, after that all entries will be considered on a first-come first-served basis until the cut off date of April 30.
Congratulations to Tuxedo LBC members George Ames (skip), Brian Kullman (vice) and Linda Ames – they are the East Valley Invitational Triples Champions! The tournament took place at Leisure World in Mesa, Arizona. Arizona is a hotbed of winter bowls for expats from all over the world. What a great achievement for the newly minted Tuxedo Trio. Bravo!
